Join us at our next wine pairing dinner where we will explore the impact varying vineyard elevations make on Californian wine.
At our next wine pairing dinner, we will identify how the area in which grapes are grown on the slope impact the final outcome in the bottle. Mountain sides have rockier soil that drains more quickly, causing roots to dig deep to find water. While the valley floor has richer soils and vines that don’t have to reach as deep to find water. Typically, mountain-grown grapes have tannins that are tighter, stronger, and have a lot of length, requiring more time in the barrel and bottle to develop. Valley floor wines have tannins described as plush, dense, but without the same length. We will explore the comparison between the mountain produced fruit and valley produced fruit to discover their unique differences.
Our guest speaker, Nicholas Welham, Fine Wine Specialist, will guide us through six wines thoughtfully paired with complementing chef-driven selections.
